I have a question regarding to Wake-on-LAN feature and its implementation within nForce 1 & 2 chipsets. Also I have posted 2 other topics to Motherboards forum with details some days before:
* my problem with NV7-133R and not functional WOL - both nVidia built-in NIC and PCI 2.2 PME-compatible 3Com 3C905C-TX-M
* question about WOL and Asus A7N8X built-in NICs - nVidia and 3Com
Please does somebody use it on any nForce 1/2 board - wake-up from S5 (shut down) ? Which NIC is functional - built-in nVidia, built-in 3Com or PCI 2.2 PME compatible add-on NIC ?
I have daily experience with WOL on Intel-based machines and it works excellently.

As far as I know, with the A7N8X, the WOL feature is either enabled or disabled in the BIOS, and it works just fine with either controller (though haven't tried it myself, I'll be honest). There might be a jumper, but that's it.
For the PCI nic in said board, I would assume it would work the same way.
I too have never used the WOL feature, but I have seen a setting in the advanced tab (control pannel>system>hardware>device manager>network>"your NIC here">properties>advanced) that has a WOL setting. I run a MSI K7N2-L (NForce2) with XP Pro. Don't know if this will help or not, just remeber seeing it there before.

Oh Boy! - WOL on the onboard NIC on my nforce a7n8x (std/non dlx) sure works!
When I mess with WOL on my inhouse LAN everythings ALWAYS on!!!
Can't even get em to stay off! (short of unplugin or turnin the PS switch off!
WOL can be 'WildThing On Lan" till ya learn how all your machines Shares and Requests are all related...
