I know how you feel.
After installing a patch for IE6 my browser likes to freeze my Notebook a couple times a day.
It likes to report W32 Time warning or DHCP warning.
Just checked. It's a new one this time. It's a plug and play warning linked to the quick launch bar.
Damn frustrating. Espeically when these happen after a reformat and reinstall. When it takes a full day to reformat and reinstall all my stuff I sure as hell not doing it again anytime soon.

LOL, I'm running out of options here! Support for 98SE is drying up, which wouldn't be such a problem if new games and such didn't require updates, but they DO.

My biggest bitch about XP is the loss of hardware controll for my SQ2500 soundcard. Using the last 98SE driver, this thing ruled supreme. Loosing hardware controll in the XP driver makes the card mearly adequate. This is of course a problem caused by Creative, not MS, since it was Creative who sealed the drivers and took out sites of independant developers.

I left 98se on one of my parents machines just for the printer support, but on my two machines I'm pretty happy with XP. No crashes.

Up until recently I left it in performance mode, but after Silverpig's desktop post I've tweaked the hell out of it and it runs fine. Fast enough for me. I can't tell the difference. Takes a bit longer to startup due to the different login screen, but that's no big deal.

And when i first got win2k i had to do lots of reformats due to doing dumbass things. Part of the learning process.

Now its uber stable, overclocked, and backedup weekly. very nice.

Ahhh. The dirt bike days. What kind of custom stuff did you do and what was the last dirt bike you had? I had an '85 CR500 and an '86 CR125. Man, I'm old too.

The last dirt bike I had was a custom job. CD360 frame, engine (6 speed transmission), CL350 rear hub/sprocket on aluminum rim, DR400 forks/shocks/seat, custom swingarm (DR400 modified to fit CB360 frame). It went around 120MPH on dirt roads. My friends had better bikes, I got my stuff by fixing theirs.
