Here is my problem. I am using a USB Cable modem supplied by my Cable co (Daewoo Int'l). The speed is so so but it works. My mobo, nForce2 has a built in Lan, so I unplugged the USB from the modem to PC and plugged in a Lan/Ethernet cable from the modem to the pc, but I get the message "Network Cable Unplugged". Thinking that maybe the port is bad, got a D-Link PCI card, but the same message. Any suggestions I can use? Thanks in advance

Thanks for replying. I have this cable that says Category 5 Patch Cable UTP. I have no idea about crossover cables. I did see on a web site that they are selling both crossover and non-crossover cables, so maybe I'll give that a try.

You need to go into your bios and enable your onboard LAN. If it is enabled you may have to install the drivers for it.

Not familer with that modem, but you may have to log into it (the modem) and switch it from USB to ethernet output. I know with my modem I can go to page 192.168.100.1 and check the config. You may need to check the manual or their website for the address yours is on.
