Firefox = no banner adds
Internet Explorer = no banner adds
Netscape = no banner adds
Opera = no banner adds

Somtimes it's good to go with the flow.

Firefox = green links
Internet Explorer = green links
Netscape = green links
Opera = no green links

Sometimes it's good to be different.

Install Firefox and the Adblock extension. Then just click your woes away.

No, I'm not happy now. You posted a url for crying out loud. What's that supposed to prove? Did you make a small mistake with your post or are you just very un-savvy when it come to computers?

I just installed firefox to test out adblock. It's pretty good. But if there is a way to get rid of these green links, it's not by right-clicking them.

ahh! I just did some googling. *intellitxt* should be blocked to disable the little green links with adblock.

What you need to do is go to the menu Tools/Adblock/List all blockable elements.

Those that have ad.tomshardware and toms.us.intellitext need to be blocked.

Just trying to make the guy happy! But it seems to be having a reverse reaction you see he starts this post like a comparison or something never specifically asking for any help!

I thought maybe he was running Opera and was bragging like SoD does sometimes, somehow I guess I missed the plea for help!

Then he tells me.

Would you care to show your screen-shot of wierd - Internet ok, network inaccessible?

So I did:) !

Now his underwear is all wadded up, and he's insulting me for doing what he asked me to do for him.

I thought maybe he thought I was lying when I said I didn't have any Greenies in Internet Explorer and wanted me to prove it to him, So I did! Go Figure!

If he just wanted to get rid of the Greenies in Internet Explorer, all he had to do was ask how, but now he can KMA!

OOPS time to go back to the Other Section!

OOH get nasty and insulting way to go, that'll get you a lot of help for sure, BNFM by the way, next time you need help, directly and specifically ask for it, and you'll get it! Maybe! [But probably not by posting multiple choice guess what my problem is crap]!

Happy Now?

I’m browsing around in the forum somewhere I saw someone’s post about annoying green links. I didn’t know there were any, so I start up IE and check around. Feeling sorry for anyone who has to put up with this all the time, I start a thread to let people know that not only does Opera not render these annoying links, but also no-longer has an annoying banner add on the top. Opera is in fact free. So sorry if my first post here was too ambiguous. I guess the “=” just makes for confusion outside of math.

Then you come along and that IE doesn’t render green links. You didn’t say you had found a way to get rid of them, you in fact said “Internet Explorer = No Green Links” This is another example of the “=” sign causing confusion. I then put up a url to a screen-shot to show you that yes, there are these green links with IE, at least so far as I knew. You then put up a url. Not a url to a screen shot. Not a jpg, or gif, or bmp. <b>You put up a url to a html file.</b>

Now, here I made a mistake. I said: “You posted a url for crying out loud”.
Bad terminology.
I should have said something like: “That’s not a screen-shot!”
My mistake.
You then go on to show that you can put up posts faster than you can read them. No need to show me that, I had figured that out already. And since you <i>attempted</i> to show me a screen shot of a greenie-free IE I figured you were probably telling the truth, so I googled it. I don't need your help 4ryan6, I'm greenie free with Opera. I'm sure others would like to know how you got rid of them, but I don't care. Keep it to yourself if it makes you happy.

you see, a very un-savvy computer user wouldn't know the difference between a html file and a screen-shot. However there's still the chance you just made a small mistake with your post. And how is this an insult? You're a bit reactionary you know.

No confusion here dude I was just messing with you at first, most of us have resolved the greenies issue a long time ago, its more of a joke now, but you'd have had to of had some track time here to have known that.

So, posting a url to a html file instead of a screen-shot is a hilariously funny in-joke around here? Well, that does throw some light on the situation. If you had just posted a screen shot I would have asked how you did it. But unable to contain your deviuos sense of humor, you made a deliberate blunder and waited for me to fall for it.

I get it! It's not a mistake if you do it on purpose! All you have to do is tell people you were messing with them. Then you have to laugh to show them how funny you are.

Heres a few screenshots for you!

<A HREF="http://photobucket.com/albums/b391/Josiah4jc/?action=vi...¤t=galley1.jpg" target="_new"> 3 </A>

So whats the deal you think screenshots makes you some computer guru or something because you have a website you can reference back to to show your shots, you're kidding me right you can't be that damn stupid!

In other words <A HREF="http://photobucket.com/albums/b391/Josiah4jc/?action=vi..." target="_new"> Screenshots </A> are still pictures taken of an active screen that guess what? You still have to post a link or url to here at THGF to access them, now it would be great if we could have file attachments here at Toms but we don't, so you're still actually posting a url to display your precious screenshots. ROFLMAO :smile:

You keep trying to end this thread with you laughing at my stupidity, ignorance, naive, ect. Last time I checked, them be fighting words. So if my previous post seems a bit angry, it's because it is.

I never said that the ability to put up a screen-shot makes anybody a guru. All I said was that anyone who can't must not be a guru.

This has devolved from a simple post about Opera to a confrontation between myself and you & your friends. I’m not going to use sarcasm anymore and I'm not going to insult you, or respond to your insults, but try to change the meaning of my words and I’m going to defend myself.

Quite honestly, I don’t see any reason to continue this post. You’re just going to insult me and I’m going to either ignore you or respond if you twist my words (which is called propaganda) or use any other fallacy in your ridicules. I’d rather stop, but it comes down to this thread ending with your insults or me spending a few minutes every day responding, I’ll take the latter.

or maybe you meant this:

So, posting a url to a html file instead of a screen-shot is a hilariously funny in-joke around here?

You see, a url can point to a html file or an image (or any file type) so it's redundant to say "url" twice. think of
(html file instead of a screen-shot) with the brackets in place.

It's you laughing at the end of every post, especially when they aren't funny, that is abbrassive.

It's as if you're going out of your way to laugh at the guy.

You started the insults!

I honestly came here to help you, my mistake!

I know how to make Screenshots and have some stored on my computer, but do not have access to a website to post them so others can go look at them, but I don't have the Greenies in IE because of the fixes we've discovered and applied so there was no need to post a Screenshot just to satisfy your curiosity.

I been considering this whole argument for a while and I just want to say to you that I'm sorry. It really wasn't very nice at all at all to say that you were un-savvy. I can understand if this made you angry. So I'm sorry about that. Just forget everything else I've said.

Me too! I'm still trying to figure out how we ended up in an arguement, my apologys for my comments, I guess my sense of humor doesn't work with everyone and I ended up offending you and that really wasn't my intentions! Maybe we can end up friends from all this, you never know! Have a great day! Ryan

About that screen-shot you put up: what was that? It looked like Windows XP but different. Either windowblinds, or aston XP, or maybe... vista? But it can't be vista. Vista isn't supposed to have the "My" prefix on everything like XP does.
