up with a paging error and then says there is no paging and the page file is
set to 0...

Your original pagefile may be corrupt. Set your computer for "no page file".
Press the "set" button. Reboot. Now adjust your page file to the value you
want. Press "set" again. Reboot. Did it now take and hold the setting?

Does your motherboard have an Intel chipset (not just the CPU itself
but the supporting chipset)?
If so then try downloading and installing the Intel Application
Accelerator from the Intel website (www.intel.com).
Good luck
