I was trying to update firmware for my Sony DVD-R and it asked me to disable
my DMA settings. It referred me to look under Help in Windows. After some
reading up on it, I found the DMA access in Device Manager. I viewed
Resources By Connection, expanded the DMA tree, clicked on each one and
disabled them. There were two DMA groupings in that tree, one with 2 DMA and
one with 4 DMA. While the 4 DMA was successfully disabled, the 2 DMA branch,
while also successfully disabled, is now gone from the list. I believe the 2
were related to "port" or "floppy". They did not come back after the
computer restarts either.
How do I get them back? Will some hardware not function now because of
this? Am I screwed? (My computer knowledge is mediocre at best.) Thank you.
