Neither of them worked... but I believe you
Some day I'll be rich and famous for inventing a device that allows you to stab people in the face over the internet.
It doesn't... I think the ship sunk.

Nah....it was really busy though. I watched it. All hands on deck as well as a lot of family on the docks. I was too busy to go fight traffic to see it first hand.
It was accompanied by a destroyer and a cruiser. It'll meet up with a bunch of other ships and subs.

Now lets hope they can return home without doing anything.

That was my old ship...I hate that old thing...

LOL....but they're so impressive. I've seen the Constellation up close and I've been passed out in the bay by the Stenis, and they're just huge!
Besides, I still think it's neat that when they tug these things out of the bay, the bottom is within a couple feet of the channel bottom.

Of course! they are the biggest warships one can get! 650m long IIRC.
And i imagine the gulf must be so full of US warships that they are bumpin into each other

www.navy.mil, go to status of the navy and you can see where all of them are. They don't list subs though.

Stenis? I take it as a huge insult that they used my name in that stupid warships name. Where there no better things to spend all that money on?

I think the USA purposely built one of the most powerfull machines of war in order to offend you.

Stennis btw. I spelled it wrong.

Won't mention where the subs are? What the hell? That makes no sense.
Can't remember what ship my cousin is on, though it shipped out from San Diego sometime after Christmas (his shoreleave was much shorter than had been planned), and made a beeline to Hawaii. Go figure.

Subs are our the bread and butter of our military. Aircraft carriers do not carry nuclear weapons, but subs do.

Don't be so sure...

I might be wrong on this; I thought the deal was that they weren't part of the strategic nuclear force anymore, but they still routinely carry strategic & tactical nukes.
edit: Not that anyone's going to admit it either way, of course!

None of us could know for sure obviously. My friends in the Navy insist that Carriers don't have nuke's though.

All I know is this...there is a munitions elevator on the Nimitz that always has a few marine guards. Never seen them guard anything else...hmmm...

Really? I thought that the reactor area (whatever it's called) was also guarded, with a shoot on sight type situation in place.

Nah...I worked in the Reactor room. It was only guarded during abandon ship drills/situation. Unfortunately it was to keep people in, rather than keeping bad guys out. They wanted us poor techies to spend our last moments alive destoying classified documents and equipment.
