I was playing around with my gts, and I set the ramdac to 420 mhz (the max the drivers let me) and it did run quake 3 arena in max detail (1024x728 res). That was the best 3 seconds of my life before it locked up. Now I'm running a conservative 350...but the frame rate is still great on my p2 400. I played around with the higher clocks for a while (390-400), and after playing quake 3 for about 30 minutes the thing would crash. When it did, I'd *carefully* reach inside of my computer and touch the metal heatsink/fan on the geforce, and it wasn't blazing hot like I thought it would be. I could of sworn that ppl were ranting about how these cards were like space heaters for your computer. If it's not the heat that's crashing my card, what could it be? Shabby worksmanship? (it's an oem gf 2 gts 32mb, I have no clue what the brand is or where to look for the brand name. All I know is I paid under $160 for the thing).

If your heatsink is warm, even just a little, it means you can easily improve the GPU cooling. Get a better heatsink, this will most definitely lower GPU temperature in your case, and you will probably be able to overclock a little more.

Is there any fan small enough and powerful enough that it doesn't take up an extra PCI slot? Thanks...

NM, answered my question (I guess). http://www.thecardcooler.com/ has video card coolers for about 1.5 x the price I paid for my fop 38...what a deal...

ya know, I really should learn to do my homework before I ask questions. Blue orbs look cool, and they only run ya back about $15 with shipping. Hooray.
