i have finally found the true limits of my diamond viper V770 TNT2 card.
the core is able to run stable (if very hot) at 157Mhz, up from 125.
what truly suprized me was the memory.
its default setting is 150Mhz at CAS3 latency.
using TNTCLK it will run up to 161Mhz with CAS2 latency... or if i leave it on CAS3 it will go up to a mindblowing 242Mhz!!!!
and it is rock steady too! all without any extra cooling at all.
thats a whopping 61.3% performance increase with the memory.

I think u can see that is something to brag about! :)

as for real world benchmarks..i use quake2.
1024x768x32
@ 125 & 150Mhz = 62.5 fps
@ 157 & 242Mhz = 87.0 fps
an increase of 38%.
not too shabby at all.
:)

cheers

I'm torture testing a STB4400, got it up to 120 clock speed without glithches, after that it overheats. Using a Cyrix 486 sink on it, drilled to go over the capacitors, and a screw-on 486 fan. I have a feeling that there is a lot more room in it, but I have no more space for a lager heatsink!

...I'm running my Leadtech WinFast 3D S320 II (TNT2 non-ultra 125/150) at 155mhz / 200mhz... not to bad... I can ofcourse run it heigher for some minutes but then it freezes :-( But I'm happy anyway... mine has got an active fan though...

Christmas greetings all.
the poo is back. ive moved, had to get rid of my old computer.
now got a p2 300 with a new Gigabyte 660 plus.
the 660 plus is a TNT2-A
not sure if the A means "ultra" or not. anyhow, its got a nice fan on it, and runs at a standard 150Mhz core & 166Mhz memory.
using old TNTCLK again ive got it up to 172Mhz & 200Mhz rock steady.
suprised i couldnt get more out of the processor on it.
But i do need help. running most games at 800x600 (even when not overclocked) the monitor keeps blacking out at random intervals. sometimes 20 seconds between blank, other times as little as half a second between blanks. the blankout lasts for about 1 second.
makes any game unplayable at that resolution (and ONLY that resolution).
happens on Q3, unrealtournament, need for speed 5, quake 2...all games i have tried.
and for the life of my i cant stop it. tried changing drivers, monitor timing methods, direct3d and opengl settings. all to no avail.
any ideas folks???
it wouldnt bother me if it happend at some obscure relsolution... but 800x600 i use alot, a good balance between resolution and speed.
frustrated regards,
the Poo
