i record TV on my win 7 PC and play them through my Xbox on my TV, what is the best way to cut out the extra, and compress it, i need to save space. i want to keep all the info in tact, as well as add some info that did not get put into the file.

I take it you mean cut out the commercials. VideoReDo TVSuite V4 can edit wtv files directly, also has add detective and can save in different formats. You can also add multiple files to it to make one.
