Battlefield 3 Low fps at first then goes back to normal

Specs:
AMD X4 955 @ 3.2Ghz
8GB Patriot 1600
Gigabyte 970a-d3
Gigabyte Windforce 6870
Antec 620W PSU

All Settings HIGH NO AA or AF and Motion Blur is on. 1440X900 res.

When I first get into a MP server I get about 15-30 fps and my computer is making very little noise, as if its on idle. Then after about 20min to half and hour it get loud and then the FPS jumps up to 40-70 FPS. How the heck do I fix this? The Frame rate at first is unplayable!

Thanks for the respones!

  1. I'm not sure but this could actually be an issue with your install on the hard drive. Sounds like it's having trouble pulling textures from the HD, and starts to run smoothly when they are all cached.

Just installed a new drivers today, would it be a good idea to re install them then?
  3. Did the problem exist before your new driverset?

It's hard to say, I think it was around the time. Just got my PC back from being serviced 3 days ago. I deleted and re installed my drivers via this: http://www.overclock.net/t/988215/how-to-properly-uninstall-ati-amd-software-drivers-for-graphics-cards .
Still hasn't helped played on Caspian Border and was getting 20 - 40fps, 30+ was rare.
  5. Bump...
  6. This is now happening on most of the games I own. I was playing Tribes ascend, which I get 60+ FPS and it was in the range of 15-35 fps. What the hell.
  7. my PC drops to 15-30fps when loading Bf3 levels but then goes back up to 60-70FPS I'd say its just crappy BF3 coding, but if its affecting other games then thats a bit different. Could be a hardware fault or virus?
  8. Everything seems to be running fine, my computer must of had temporary cancer.
  9. and now its back to its old ways. This is truly strange.
  10. I was getting the bsod, it was caused by my Razer Arctosa drivers. Since removing the drivers all performance has gone back to normal.
