I can't play two games on my computer because a note keeps popping up saying: The program you are trying to run requires a current Indeo codec. To obtain a current driver that is compatible with this version of Windows, please contact the manufacturer at: http://www.indeo.ligos.ca So then I go there and I have to pay $15. for the driver. Boy what's up with that? If I pay for a game, I should be able to play it. What can I do?
The games are: Mafia and Risk II
I'm running P4 2G with a 64MB nvidea card.

I guess you're using Windows XP SP1. Windows XP SP1 has problem with games that use Indeo Video. There's a patch for fixing this problem. I lost the exact link, so hunt M$ downloads section for the patch.

download the codec on kazaa. This is due to xp sp1 not bundling the codec anymore for legal/financial/bullsit reasons.

I think the reason is- M$ is trying to push WMV. They've started using WMV in their recent games, but they were used to use Indeo in the past

if you cant find a better alternative, you can try the k-lite codec pack. on the left hand side navigation, under downloads choose codecs. and then the downloadpage link under k-lite codec pack. read the whole page, you want to download the full version, not the basic.

I couldn't find it anywhere except on p2p networks. I made a post about this a while back since I was salty that a MSFT game wouldn't work anymore since MSFT took the codec out of SP1.
