Duron 800 Temps

I wondered what sort of temperature I should expect a (non overclocked) Duron 800 to run at? I currently find that it runs around 45-48C idle. Seems a bit high to me. any thoughts? I'm using a chrome orb with some generic heat transfer compound. I'm thinking of going with the Globalwin 32-1 though. Suggestions welcome!!

Yeah- that is a little high considering it's not overclocked. But, it's fine. It's not going to blow up if that's what you mean. BTW, those Orb's stink- get a REAL HSF like Alpha.

What motherboard are you using?
If you are using an Asus A7V, your temps are normal. If you are using something else then your temps are a little high.

Yeah, I'm beginning to realise that the orb isn't doing it's job properly. The heatsink on it is not even getting warm so either the temperature probe is wrong or the orb is not transferring the heat away from the CPU core. Either way I think I'll benefit from a different HSF

Sorted! I just replaced my heatsink and fan with a new one. New temp 36C. Not bad eh?
