i am getting a duron 700mhz (boxed) soon and was wondering whether the heatsink that comes with it will be sufficient for keeping the chip cool? or should i get something else, e.g. the coolermaster heatsinks.
another thing, about the thermal paste, a dealer who was selling the coolermaster told me that the paste has already been applied on the heatsink and that all i have to do is peel off the sticker and just stick it on the chip. is that alright, or should i get some more thermal paste??
please help a beginner!!! thanks, heap guys.

if You plan to install it once, and then not worry about it, the PCTC pad that is preapplied will do fine.

hello
im in the same situation i just got a retail 700 duron and i just ordered a global win fop 32
i plan on overclocking is the retail fan enough and returnt the fop32
what if i have another case fan blowing on the retail fan, will this be addequate or just stick to the fop32

The default duron heatsink should be a coolermaster one, and it probably only keeps adequate temps up to 950 or so. I would personally keep the FOP.

If you plan to take the heatsink off more than once, than get some heatsink compound, as the thermal pad applied to the heatsink is a onetime affair. Once you take the heatsink off, even once, the cooling benefit from the thermal pad is deminished. This is documented on AMD's website, and Coolermaster's website.
