I hadthe same problem when swithing over to dsl.For Gamespy and directplay games to work you need to open these ports on your router/firewall. Different games require different ports but this will get you started.

6667 (IRC)
3783 (Voice Chat Port)
27900 (Master Server UDP Heartbeat)
28900 (Master Server List Request)
29900 (GP Connection Manager)
29901 (GP Search Manager)
13139 (Custom UDP Pings)
6515 (Dplay UDP)
6500 (Query Port)

open the ports _Free up the following in order to play directplay games:
TCP Client 47624 Outbound, Host 47624 Inbound ,
TCP 2300-2400 Inbound & Outbound,
& UDP Connections: 2300-2400.
Rooms showing on Arcade is port 6500 & 6515. Xbox uses 6700

Update! I just found out that I [supposedly] cant modify my firewall or ports from network connections, but...I think I can do it from my ISP accounts website. So um, can you help me out with where to look for ports, would it be in VC, or somewhere else? Thank You and please reply!

/edit, fianlly Figured that son of a bitch out! Got it working!

Most DSL modems have a built in firewall . You need to forward these ports on the modem or router.

If you are using XP you will also have to dissable its own software firewall.

I too would like know how as well. I keep hearing people talk about opening or forwarding ports, but how do you do that? I've got some settings for Access Control, Virtual Servers, and Special Apps. It's a D-Link Residential Gateway DI-704. The website and the manual don't give enough instruction for someone that has no firewall/router experience. They assume you already know the techno-babble and have a basic understanding of how routers work. Anyone know a good website that would help?
