Windows 8

Microsoft says you can upgrade from XP to Windows 8. I have a 32 bit version of XP. Does anyone know if the Windows 8 upgrade will take me to 64 bit?

Unfortunately no, Microsoft says on their website that you'll have to buy a Windows 8 DVD to go from 32 to 64 bit.

Edit: hmm... I misinterpreted wrong, my bad. Apparently you cannot with the Upgrade Assistant (the 40 dollar upgrade) but I guess if you buy the DVD upgrade ($70) you can, but you won't be able to keep your files.

I just have a question on this one. Right now I have preview version of windows 8. If I purchased the upgrade version would I still need windows 7? Can I just install windows 8 by itself?
