intel fan for socket A?

I saw that the Intel socket 370 cooler got a pretty good result in the recent Lord Kyro review. Is anyone actually using the Intel cooler on AMD Socket A processors? Is there too much danger of breaking the chip or is the mounting clip too hard to deal with?

There are multiple retail Intel heatsinks. There's the 550E and smaller one, the middle 600-866EB heatsinks, then hte 933 heatsink(which is decently sized).

One thing to note is that Tomshardware(adn any other review done with a socket-thermistor setup) is highly inaccurate, and does not provide relative data. Temps are compressed, among ohter issues.

See my sig for more details.

Don't forget that Intel CPU's don't get nearly as hot as AMD's. The HSF may appear to be awesome- but in all actuality the HSF is doing a mediocre job because it can. I wouldn't advise putting an intel HSF on an AMD CPU (if your overclocking).

MPJessie,

Depends on the intel heatsink. THe newer, 933 and up retail heatsink is probably near the Taisol CEK733092 in performance.

Go for the FOP32, as the price is only $5 more and it is designed for it. The intel clip has a pressure point that self-levels the cooler on the center of the PIII die. Since the AMD die is not exactly in the same location relative to the clip, it may experience a little tilting pressure, rusulting in the possibility of a cracked processor, especially at higher temps.
