Not a good week
I was running my comp nicely at 700
and decided to oc to 850, but when i changed jumpers i accidently disconnected cpu fan
my cpu temp went up to 70C
i quickly fixed this but now my comp crashes programs all the time, i did manage to get quake running for a while but now it just crashes
so i reinstalled windows
but still same programs crash
is my chip or motherboard gone to hell?
probly return my chip since its been less than 30days
what do you think?
thx 4 any input

Well, does it still work at 700MHz?

Usually when you overclock, it voids you warranty. I know it does for retail CPUs, not sure about OEM. Sounds like you got OEM.

If it works at 700, then you have no reason to return it. I doubt anybody would take it back because it won't work at 150MHz more than it is supposed to (21.4% faster).

even at 700 it crashes certain programs
actually most programs, its not a virus
this baby is going back. or it could be my mb,
and that would suck.
you think 70C on cpu would mess up mb(A7V?

If you burned it, just clean the pencil lines, remove any thermal grease and so on, and return it to the shop claiming any really really stupid thing. If they think you're a dumbass they will not suspect you screwed it up while overclocking.

i think 70C is less than lead melting temperature.
And it is unlikely burned CPU. Maybe misplaced heatsink?
or wrong voltage.

All i can offer you is the truth. Nothing more.
