What is a parallel loopback plug? It was mentioned on page 1002 symptom 31-4 of the millenium edition - Troubleshooting, Maintaining & Repairing PCs by S. Bigelow. Does anyone has tried to use the included diagnostic CD?

A loopback plug is a simple piece of hardware.

It enables software to test the physical integrity of the parallel port. The program sends information to the data-out pins which is then 'looped-back' to the data-in pins.

The program checks the information sent out against what it receives back. If identical, the parallel port is good.
