I am running Win XP pro SP1. Normally I use a stand alone fax machine but have been trying to use the fax within Win XP. I am having the following type problem: If I am off the internet and receive a fax within Win XP and then attempt to go on the net to read emails I get a message that the modem is in use. I have not been able to disable the Win Fax system so that I can dial on to the net.

Today I received a fax on Win XP, I was off the net. A few mainutes later another fax came in but Win XP did not respond. As I worked through this, I kept getting the message that the modem was in use.

I suspect that there is some set up or key stroke that disables the Modem so I can dial out but I have not been able to figure out what it is. Any help would be appreciated.

Please make sure the modem you are using is compatible
