I uninstalled a program and lost my 2 dvd's.Going the route of installing and uninstalling does nothing.Tried cold restart and doesnt work. Xp can reinstall as new hard ware and does not see it. I found something about---HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/Curretcontrolset/Control/Class/{4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}--.It says to export (delete) upper filter and lower filter value.The problem is I have this key 24 times. Would I export only top and bottom or all of them. Any help welcome.

You can attempt a simple fix (of the registry) by using the System Restore utility under Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools. Whenever a restore point is created, the Registry is also backed up to an RPxxx file. If you restore back to when you DVD drives were working, there's a good chance you'll get them back. Your personal files and currently installed programs will remain the same. The programs you've uninstalled will not return either.
