I have Windows XP Home installed on my computer, and for
some reason I am unable to change my printer settings. I
am trying to change the settings from "Spool print
document.." to "Print directly to the printer" as when I
try to print from certain programs, the documents just
remain in the queue never getting printed. I checked
their products website and they recommended I change that
setting, but since windows will not allow me to change it
I am more or less SOL right now. Hopefully someone can
tell me what is wrong. I dont see why windows should be
stopping me from changing my print settings, I am the
admin on the computer so it makes no sense to me.

Are you logged on as an Administrator - or a User with Administrative
Rights... a Limited User CANNOT change printer settings.

I am logged on as the Administator. Thats why it is so
puzzling. It should let me, but its not.

Check to make sure that your "Server" service is enabled. I had the
same problem on my computer and this service, which controls file and
printer sharing, was disabled. I enabled it and I'm able to change
settings now. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem, that was caused by the wrong "Default Data
Type" of the "Printer Processor".
The remedy: open "Printer and Faxes", then right click your printer,
open the "Advanced" window, press "Print Processor" and choose "RAW"
under the "Default Data Types" window.
After then you should be able to save the "Print directly to the
printer" option.

Perhaps somebody can help me with MY printer problem: I cannot use the
spooler with the printer (and of course the FAX doesn't work, since it
uses the spooler).

Thanks
