It will not work with the straight cable., only the ones that have the
junction box in the middle of the wire. I purchased the radio shack cable
for the vx6000 (#19) ($19.00) and it worked perfectly with both the 7000
and the 3200.

I was hoping the ones that came with the xv7000 would work (I didn't try
because the book said it might damage the battery ) - I'll probably just
carry two.

Are you getting confused between a USB data cable and a 12V charging cable
for the phone?? Cricket was talking about the charger, not a USB data
cable...
