yeah... neat article, but that's an mx, my gts already has a neat little fan....

i was wondering if i could take the actual heatsink off, so i could put some silver between the heat sink and the gpu....

just take it off. the mx has the exact same .18 micron gpu as the geforcegts. you've got to squeeze a flat-head screw driver between the hs and the fan. if you think you are going to damage your vcard then just leave it the way it is.

ok heres a little trick ,put your video card in a plastic bag and tie it up tight, now put it in another bag and tie it tight also . put the card in the freezer for about 30 min,the bags keep moisture from getting on the card while in freezer.now quickly remove card from freezer and open, place a credit card or similar card on video card where you want to pry and use a small blade screwdriver to pry of the heatsink the credit card protects the pcb boardfrom being scratched or damaged

Why would you want to do that? Card manufacturers use thermal epoxy, som pretty good stuff. I don't think you'll see any improvements. Besides, overclocking the GPU by 10% will only get you a 1% performance improvement. Vidoe Ram speed is the bottleneck, put some heatsinks on the memory and push it to it's max.

oh, i wasn't sure crash.... i just saw that the card was running at 46C and figured that was a little hot, and maybe they didn't use a good compound.
But the ram heatsinks...hmmm....

Any idea on how hot the gpu's spose to run at?

Yes, my gts does 380MHz memory, at 390MHz it overheats-I can tell it's a heat problem because it occurs several minutes into running 3D-mark 2k. But I really didn't need to go faster anyway.
