I am moving my P3 733 to my second machine. My old machine was a C333a@416. I want to get a Faster CPU. I have heard the p3 600 and 700 are the best for Oc'ing. Is it true. Why not the 650 or 750. My fist choice is the 700@933. if i cant get it to work then it goes in my 2nd machine. The main reason for the upgrade is for head to head games. MW4, Q3,Halflife ,Age Empire. on prive watch the 700 is $130 the 600 is $105. I am not going to buy a new motherboard so no AMD bs.

it is all really luck of the draw on what cpu you get not all are the same, but most peoples experiences with the new
cCO stepping 700e have been 933 or better but you never know until you plug it in, there are no guarantees on overclocking.

In spite of rummors that the cCO stepping will go higher, I have yet to see any difference. The reason many people recommend the 700 (including me) is the 7x multiplier. The 700 will do 933 at a standard 133MHz FSB (and 980 at 140). In order to get the 750 to 133 FSB, you have to overclock it to 1GHz. Many processors will not go to 1GHz with stability. There is a point around 980MHz where higher overclocking requires much larger voltage increases and is less likely to produce results, reguardless of rated speed (unless you have a 1GHz processor to start with).

I have my P3 700@933. I bought it from a trusty dude that has it rock stable at over a gig. I don't know if it is cco cbo stepping. But the only reason I keep it at 933 is my V5 can't handle anything over 133fsb. 700's are the sh!t.

thanks all for the help looks like a try for 700@933. even if it will not go that high it's still better than a C333@416.
