I need a car phone for use all around Texas. I quit Cingular because of poor connectivity (why pay for a car phone if you have to keep looking for a road-side pay phone?) So is there ANY provider in the wide Texas area that has solid receptivity on the highways? I need to be able to get through especially when there is a crisis (such as a hurricaine). Otherwise, why bother? Anybody have any really good experiences and make a recommendation? littleberry

Cingular sucks. I hate them. I have them. I can't wait to get rid of them.

I think Sprint was great, but you'll want to check the coverage map for your area. They were pretty consistant. If the map showed no coverage there was none, if they showed coverage you could count on them.

If you are looking for a phone just for you car and concerned about service i would recommend choosing a CDMA network. Sprint and Verizon both work on CDMA networks, however Verizon treats their customer's horribly and Sprint is just poor in general. I would recommend using a prepaid service. www.ldpost.com to see great rates and service coverage on a CDMA network.
