The new version is out. You can download it now (634MB) and it's playable tommorrow.

That's right -- effective tomorrow at noon, you can grab the much-anticipated update to America's Army: v1.9. Here's what you'll find in v1.9: the introduction of a new MOS: the Combat Medic (and, of course, the requisite medical training consisting of 4 separate courses); new higher-resolution character models; a brand-spanking-new interface (and theme song); new high-detailed textures; character shadows; lip syncing; new team selection pages; new scoreboard; PunkBuster anti-cheating software..and much more!

I have been playing AA 1.9 for a couple hours now and let me say this.

It is extremely frustrating since the Punk Buster software is kicking everyone off the servers (I've been kicked about 8 times). They say that the dev team is working on it but right now it's very annoying.

The medic class is cool. Definite improvement. If you don't find a medic you'll bleed to death.

Those of you with high end systems will probably enjoy all the choices that you have for detail settings.

ive been having some trouble playing 1.9. 1.7 worked fine and when i first downloaded 1.9 i played through the medic training fine. but now everytime i try and load aao i get the error:
No Label

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 801 MHz with 319MB RAM
Video: RADEON 8500 SERIES (6368)

Error setting display mode: CheckDepthStencilMatch failed. (D3D_OK). Please delete your armyops.ini file if this error prevents you from starting the game.

History: UD3DRenderDevice::UnSetRes <- DetermineFormats <- SetupPresentParms <- UD3DRenderDevice::SetRes <- UWindowsViewport::TryRenderDevice <- UWindowsViewport::OpenWindow <- UGameEngine::Init <- InitEngine

ive checked the aao forums allpeople want to do is say that your system is too old or your video card needs to be updated. i have all up to date drivers and it ran fine. itested direct x and it is functioning properly. ive tried deleting the armyops.ini file and it still does the same thing. im using direct x 9.0b with radeon 8500 catalyst 3.6 drivers. any ideas on how to fix this id really like to play the game again. thanks for any help.

Your system is fine. Your videocard is better than mine and I do just fine. This game isn't demanding on the hardware.

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled the game?

BTW, i just played 1.9 for a bunch more hours and it's not kicking everyone anymore. Hopefully that was fixed completely.

Punkbuster is great! Finally, there will be fewer a$$holes playing games online (at least that's the theory).

Sweet!

Now that I'm FINALLY finished with summer school, I'll be able to start playing this new version!

Disregard my previous post.

Why do people always insist on insulting drug dealers by comparing them to Microsoft?
Drug dealers offer real products with real choice.
