I just built a system with a MSI K7T Pro2-a motherboard, and a Tbird 850mhz. This system is NOT overclocked. When idle the system runs at 42°C, and under load it runs at 52°C, sometimes even higher. Would this cause the system to shutdown,or reset? Why is it running so hot? I bought the CPU, fan/heatsink, and motherboard as a bundle. The CPU/fan/heatsink was installed when it arrived, so I'm not so sure they used thermal grease. There is a sticker stuck to the side of the heatsink and motherboard, which I would need to remove to lift the heatsink. Removing it voids the warranty from the dealer. The case is roomy, not cramped at all. My components are listed below, as well as a link to the CPU fan I'm using. Any help is appreciated.

Thunderbird 850mhz
MSI K7T Pro2-a
128mb Micron PC133
20gb ATA100 WD hard drive
LG 8x8x32 CDRW
Nvidia TNT2 Ultra

I got the same board from the same company only with a 1,000 mhz cpu.I was also running the temps. that you indicate(via the "PC Alert" that came on the cd).I installed two 80mm fans on the side panel of the case blowing in on the CPU,AGP, and northbridge and I'm now running 30c at idle and 34c under full load(running quake, unreal, or winbench tests). Give it a try.

You'll need two 3" holes in the side panel the best way to do this is with a holesaw from the inside or a 2 1/2" conduit punch from the outside(see your local electrician he may be able to punch the holes for you)
