i play guitar and used to have a band in high school.. i was/am a skater kid with a nerdy edge. haha.
i listen to heavy metal and rock.
i listen to all guitar rock but a singular source for my 'modern' tastes is probably Korn. Their influence brought about most the bands I listen to.
Older main influence would have to be Black Sabbath.
Coal Chamber, Fear Factory, Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society, Filter, Cradle of Filth, In Flames, Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin, Stone Sour to name a few of my favorites.
Anything heavy or at least has a guitar in it, no rapping, no disco (also refers to pop/dance music).
If you guys missed ozzfest '96 check out Loco by coal chamber.
Lets see a # of hands of those who are going to ozzfest this year!
I'll probably be the only one.. :-(
As well as being a techie, I've been playing drums for almost 13 years now and I am a member of a very loud rock band. Our influences are mainly Slayer, Devin Townsend, Entombed and System of a Down. We're going into the studio in a few weeks to cut a 12-track demo. We've just got a new singer who is very good indeed. We're re-recording some of our old tracks with him as well as doing new ones.
Personally I like a great variety of music but my favourite is definately metal.

Entombed? Jesus, that takes me back Which singer you prefer? Opening track, especially the ending, on Left Hand Path is awesome! (Wasn't it from Phantasm?). I hope you're talking about the Lombardo-era Slayer. Their finest period IMO.

There is also a very loud rock band that practices on my street. It's not bad, though, becuase they totally rock!!! Sometimes I go outside so I can hear better.

Metal, classic rock. Fear Factory, Hypocrisy, Hatebreed, Strapping Young Lad, Black Sabbath, stuff of that nature.

Get a VERRRRRY LOUD BAND I personally like metallica aerosmith sting Bon jovi Guns n Roses from the oldies. Pop music pretty much sux now but Michael Jackson is the lord. Rap and RnB are the in thing nowadays really just like pop was a few years ago It'll end soon IMO. In the current rock bands Creed, Linkin Park, Staind, Korn, Incubus etc are good oh and limpbizkit too(a bit pop but wtf)
There's this new band ....i dont really know if its new or not : THe queens of the stone age their song "no one knows" is pretty good
My all time favourite has to be "november rain" by GUns n Roses.... No leaf clover by metallica.....Crazy by aerosmith......yep theyre gOOOd.
So hey how do i ask crashman about the bike stuff without posting a well post.
God I hate Ozzfest. I live right by a big pavillion in Southern California, and every year when the Ozzfest comes the area swells with drunken white trash idiots. Makes traffic a nightmare. Stupid drunken boobs.

But ozzfest it's self is cool. You can't hate it just because of the bad traffic and white trash.... well I guess you could.

I want that one guy with the band to upload a song or something to a ftp for us.
theres a local band around here that i really dig called leven.. http://www.levenmusic.com ozzfest is like the defacto concert of the year if you are into heavier, louder, music.
bands like korn, pantera, marilyn manson, killswitch engage, disturbed, stuff like that.. primarily its the post-grunge era hard rock.
i heard lollapalooza is going to go at it again this year?
Yeah Left Hand Path is a tremendous album, but my fave Entombed one is definately Wolverine Blues, that whole album rocks like a bastard! Clandestine is an excellent album too, very technical, but not to everyone's tastes as it's extremely raw. But thats what I like!! On the Slayer issue, yes I was mainly referring to the old Lombardo days, but then I think Slayer have done a very good job of not "selling out" since then - I thought Diabolus in Musica was very good. Anyway, I hear Dave Lombardo is rejoining Slayer! Woohoo!

Sure I'll upload some tracks from our band for people to have a listen to. But there's a decision to be made. Should I -- A) upload tracks from the CD's which are done now (old singer who's not really that great) or B) wait until our new CD is done (our new singer is WAY better) and then upload those ones?
Let me know....

C) Upload them both and put your bands picture on <A HREF="http://www.lochel.com/THGC/album.html" target="_new">here</A>
