Epson Stylus Color 800 will not install properly on window..

Attempted to install Epson SC800 printer on brand new computer with windows XP Home Edition.

Using ADD PRINTER WIZARD, chose LOCAL PRINTER, cleared the AUTO DETECT My Plug and Play Device check box. In the MANUFACTURERS box chose Epson, In the PRINTERS box chose Epson Stylus Color 800 ESC/P2. Test page will not print. Printer continuously runs as long as you will let it and prints gibberish. In the Printers and Faxes window, the printer icon shows with a black check mark next to it. I do not know the specific problem that this indicates.

In the Pinters and Faxes Server Properties window, the installed driver shows as Epson Stylus Color 800 ESC/p2 version windows 2000 or XP.

Also tried installing using the add printer wizard and letting windows auto detect. This did not work. No new hardware was detected.

Any ideas as to what is wrong? Thanks for reading this long post! I'm really frustrated after trying to come up with a solution to this problem for days!

Somehow you've managed to corrupt the drivers.

Uninstall and reinstall using:

Thanks for your help. I will try this and let you know if it works. Step six of the directions is to go to the manufacturers website(Epson) to get the new drivers. I attempted this before. Epson refered me back to Microsoft to get the driver(Epson did not have it). The proper driver seems to be included in the driver list for win XP on my computer, though. Perhaps the problem was that my printer was connected earlier in the install process than it should have been.
OK, time to give it another go. Thanks again.
