I have done the L1 bridge thing on my duron 800 but the multiplyer will only go back (6-6.5-7-7.5) and up to 8.5.
When I set it to 9x it goes back to a 700. am i doing any thing wrong.
Hey Jojo
Thanks for getting back.
I trisd 5 times this morning to re join the bridges with the PCB paint but no luck. In a last ditch attempt I cleaned of the paint off and tried with an old pencil (free to do scores at crazy golf so i don't know what sort it is) First attemp 900Mz.
If at first....
nice one
Oooooh
I don't know if i am that brave. I have two case fans, 1 in at the front, 1 out at back lower PCI slot + psu fan. My Asus A7V is 30c. But CPU reports 50 - 51c.after awile. It also locks up after running 3D mark 2001 a couple of times, also the demo locks half way throughthe second part.
I have uped the core voltage slowly to 1.75v to try to make it stable but this has caused the extra heat.
Just for reference, i have a tb 800@933 with a global winn fop38 (arguably one of the best) with some artic silver thermal compound and my chip is under 30C idle. 35-37 full load.
My guess is that you have a generic heatsink, and that with a better one (20$) you could have your temps down to low 40's so you could get your chip to 1Ghz at least.
But that's my opinion, and I love cooling and speed tweaking.
check out in the overclocking section -> heatsinks.cooling, there's a thread that starts with "who said something about the orbs" ...or something to that effect. There are a few links there to show why the orbs aren't any good.
Plus, tom's site has a review on a whole bunch of coolers and the super orb doesn't fare so well.
Although (blushing) my first hsf was a golden orb...heh...almost crushed my core...
as to your question, i have my voltage maxed out at 1.85, although my motherboard moniter reports it as 1.92.
I'm thinking about doing a voltage mod to my board to get it up to 2.0 ~ 2.2 though.... then i'll really be able to oc...heh
