The driver for the Hewlett Packard DeskJet 660Cse
furnished with Windows XP does not support 2-sided
printing. Is there a fix available or forthcoming?

Thanks,

Dave

And what has this to do with MS/Windows?! MS didn't supply the driver for
your printer - HP did and then they licensed it to MS. And yes there's a fix
www.fineprint.com.

It has much to to with MS/Windows. Obviously, HP did drop
the ball by sending a half-baked driver to MS. Having
said that, Windows XP includes what it claims to be a
driver for this printer, and I have a right to expect
that driver to run this printer with all its glorious
functions. Both HP and MS fumbled on this one.
Anyway, I do thank you for the info on the available fix.

It's a very long discontinued printer and HP made the decision it wasn't
economically viable to spend and more $s on it. However it still works with
XP. As Cerridwen pointed out, the software from www.fineprint.comwill let
you regain your lost functionality. It's either that or spend some $s to
get a nice new USB printer which will print faster, produce much better
results and comes with at least a year's guarantee.

You sir, are an idiot. You expect a long-outdated printer
to be supported in perpetuity. I suggest that you defecate
in one hand and wish in the other, and see which you get
first. MS will provide drivers as supplied by the
manufacturer, and the fact that the XP driver for your
doorstop is not omnifunctional is a bone being thrown to
you so that you can still get basic functions until you
get smart enough to buy a new printer, which from the
looks of things could be a mighty long time.
