Windows XP Professional SP-1
Zoom 3025C PCI faxmodem (COM3)
I can successfully do faxing using the Fax Service included in Windows
XP. I can send the fax and get it back (it gets sent to a Faxwave
account so I get it back immediately via e-mail). But there are some
peculiarities when sending faxes.
There are no tones emitted by my modem's speaker during the fax call. If
I disconnect the phone line, the fax keeps retrying so it is using the
phone line to send the fax (as opposed to possibly using some Internet
faxing service). I can run Hyperterminal to call my own phone line and
I'll hear the dial tone, dialing tones, and the busy signal from the
modem's speaker - so the modem's speaker does work. I've even added "M1
L1" to the initialization string under the advanced properties for the
modem. Still there are no tones heard when sending a fax. I want to
hear it get a dial tone, do the dialing, hear the fax handshaking tones,
and then cutoff during the fax transmit. This is how it worked using
the same modem in my prior computer.
I opened the Fax Monitor and configured it for always on top. I then
send a fax, see its status change to "In progress" in Fax Console, but
nothing shows in the Fax Monitor regarding the fax transmission in
progress.
I'd like to hear tones from my modem's working speaker during the fax
send startup> I'd also like to monitor the send using the Fax Monitor.
