Well, I'm finally back in action. I had some issues with the MSI mobo that came with my stock Gateway Athlon 1200 system (like not being able to overclock the board) so I decided to upgrade to a new motherboard. Based mainly on opinions I have read here, I decided to go with the Asus A7V133. Well, I got the mobo and installed it in my system only to find a wonderful problem. The system would power up for a split second and then go dead. Not knowing what was causing the problem, I decided to try tech support from Asus. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! What a joke! They don't even have technical support! The manual gives you an email address to try, but right in the manual it says that they won't respond to every email and it's right, I sent three different emails and never did get a response from them. So, since I was on my own, I decided to start troubleshooting. It turns out that the 300 watt power supply provided by Astec for the Gateway 1200 systems just doesn't get along with most other motherboards. Once my Asus fiasco was over and i returned the mobo I tried an Abit KT7A-Raid. Again it wouldn't work. I tried Abit tech support and this time I actually got an answer. They suggested trying an AMD certified power supply. Now I couldn't believe that Gateway would sell a system mainstream that doesn't include an AMD certified PS, but I guess it's true because once I installed a new 300W Powmax PS the system booted right up fist time. Now I can finally enjoy the benefits of overclocking my 1200 thanks to Abit's tech support. I purchased an FOP38 from Global Win and I'm currently running completely stable at 1396.5 MHz. If it hadn't been for the little power supply tip from Abit, I probably would have given up on upgrading my system. I had no idea that one ATX power supply could perform so much differently than another one. I'm glad I bought the Abit. It rules!!
