Hello guys,

Recently I am experiencing some big fps drops and alot of lag. Whenever I play one of the listed games i have lag spikes, even if I'm in an empty place and there are no people around me. Here is an example of what type of lag I'm experiencing : GW2 test

So what is causing the lag ? The strange thing is that my friend has lower computer specifications and the games are working fine. Witch component could be the "bottleneck" ?

System specifications:

What is the base load on your CPU, without playing any of these games.? Do you have a lot of programmes working in the background initiated at start? Check via MSCONFIG.
Is your graphics card overheating?

My CPU usage without playing any of these games is 5%-10%. The programs that are always running in the background are Skype , Xfire , Fraps . I have only 4 programs running at start . No my graphic card is not overheating , it has 40°C without running any game.

we are asking what your temperatures and CPU load DURING running the game. Skype, xfire and fraps can eat a lot of resources, considering you're on the lower end CPU, I'd try turning those off and run the games then.

I cannot watch your video right now, but I can tell you that GW2 first of all is very CPU bound game, second it was a beta that there was quite a lot of network lag as their servers were overloaded

Wouldn't this issue be better served if it were posted in the GW2 beta forums? The vast majority of us probably don't have access to the beta and can only troubleshoot with an outsider's perspective, aside from the usual questions about CPU load and temps.

I'm guessing it is either your wireless adapter, wireless router, or internet connection. Can you traceroute to a game server, and post the results here?

The beta is now over, so he's trying to solve his issue after the fact, without the ability to test it again. As I already mentioned, as I cannot watch the video, if it looks like latency issues, there's nothing he can do about them, the servers were lagging.

guys first of all I am not talking only about Guild wars 2. I even made a short list of games in witch i am experiencing lag . My CPU temperature while playing games is around 50 °C on full load. I don't have a router, my internet is connected with a cable directly to the modem and my internet connection speed is 100/10 Mb / s.

So you have no router between your computer and the modem?

I'll humbly suggest malware is the cause for any slow-downs you have on that computer.

here are the results : http://imgur.com/0DdTy
...and yea i have the profile set on performance.

i was running the program while playing AION and here is my connection test to : http://www.speedtest.net/result/1925687671.png

well, according to first screenshot everything looks normal. I guess I really have to remember to watch that video.

The only thing that might be causing stutter for you (if it is that) is if you got background processes eating up CPU time or HDD time.

Also, as far as network tests are concerned, you want to find the approximate location of the server you're playing on, go to pingtest.net and try to get the server as close to your game server location as possible. Then run tests on that server, it might give you a comparative idea of what your network performance is towards your game server.

The screenshot you've posted only tells me that you've sent packets to and from a server that is less than 50 miles away from you. That statistic is useful to see what max down/up speeds your ISP can get you, but in real world application you will almost never be dealing with a server less than 50 miles away from you.
