I downloaded ME3 through Origin, and I can't get the game to launch offline. I don't have internet, is there some way to get it to launch offline through Origin? When I launch the game it just brings up the Origin login page. Please help,

unfortunately not, if the game was on steam, there might have been an option to run it offline

If it launched offline, more and more games are requiring a log-in to move beyond the main menu. On the lesser site of DRM, you won't be able to save your progress or achievements--at worst, you can't even load the game without a server connection.

EA is notorious for this.

So I basically need to download it through Steam or maybe through Impulse or Gamestop application to be able to run it offline?

I have a few games on Steam that I can't run offline either, how would I fix this?

ME3 is not available through steam. You are probably SOL.

The harsh--but true--answer is to play a different game.

I know CD Projekt Red just recently announced that they are giving away DRM-free copies of The Witcher 2 to anyone who owns a copy through retail/GOG/Steam--simply plug in your license number and download. *That* is customer service.

Hmmm, so my only option is maybe download ME3 through Gamestop application or go buy the physical disc and install?

It doesn't matter where you buy it. EA is going to require you to log-in to your EA account inside the game to play.

So there is no way to play ME3 offline, even with the physical disc install?

there are ways, but they are not legal and beyond of what is allowed for discussion on this forum.

you dont have the net but your on here? are you using your phone? if so set up a proxy with it and you can then connect your pc to the web with it. this will allow you to activate the game which you can then play offline.

I am at work right now, don't have the internet at home, I took the computer to a friends house, downloaded the game and some dlc, launched it, then brought the computer home and can't get it to launch offline now.

well if you have a mobile phone you can do as i suggested. go to www.prodigits.co.uk and join the site... its a wap site designed for mostly mobile users... they have a mobile section where they can give you advice and tutorials on how to use your mobile as a modem...
you will need to tell them what mobile you have. you will also either need a data cable or wireless/blue tooth connection that you will be able to use...
1s done you will basically have a slow but working Internet connection...

i know this seems like a lot but really 1s its done you will be able to log into steam and play your games with ease.
which is much better than infecting your pc with a dodgey bypass.

I would be willing to do that but I don't have the internet or a data package of any kind on my phone. :(

I do have an old Ipod Touch, would that do the trick?

if you can communicate to your pc and set up a proxy on it then you should be able to.
even a cheap pay as you go would be enough as long as you can connect it to the pc and connect to the web with it. nokia's are particularly good for this kind of thing.

So there's no way to force Steam or Origin to launch in offline mode and play the games that way?

If you have a phone line at home then you may have an alternative. There are some free dial up ISP around the US which uses the old 56.6k modems (which you would need to buy).

Keep in mind that while some internet services may be free, it may require you to make a long distance call if there are no local numbers, and/or you only get a limited number of hours per month.

MetConnect is an example of a free ISP in NY. There does not seem to be any limits on connection time, and the phone numbers are local to NY.

Unfortunately, no. This is something that the gaming community despises...so you're not alone. If you don't mind my asking, why exactly do you not have the internet at home? Is it a funding issue, do you live in an area where the net is hard to get, or something else entirely?

It's just a funding issue. I don't wanna pay for it lol. Sucks that I can't play a game that I paid for and downloaded though simply because I don't have the internet. Oh well, lesson learned.

As I said initially, welcome to the future of single-player games. Distributors will screw customers over to make stakeholders happy with DRM.

well actually in a way, stake holders are customers too, in a way. They are offered a return on their investment services. :)

Good point. They'll screw over consumers to appease their stakeholders.

Ask the friendly neighborhood pirate to help you play the game in SP without that origin crap, you even paid 60$ or w/e for it so why should you be whipped by EA even more? you're probably not a masochist

Just so everyone is aware, Origin works just fine in offline mode, I logged in as I would if I was online and Mass Effect 3 is working just fine now.

No, I didn't know it would work then. I got information from another forum, tried it, and it worked fine. Just thought I would pass it along so everyone was aware for future conversations.

do you mind sharing the info on how to set origin to offline mode, so in the future when people come with the same question we can pass it on?

thanks

Absolutely. Honestly, you log in to Origin the same way as you would if you were online. Punch in your user id and password and it will recognize that within your system even without internet connection. It will then launch Origin and you can play the games offline. You may have to launch the games online first to activate them, I did, not sure if you have to or not.

Do you have any problems *playing* ME3 offline? I had read that if you have any DLC associated with the account, you either cannot play at all, cannot play the DLC, cannot save your progress, or cannot save the progress in the DLC.

Can you confirm/deny/clarify?

The dlc does not appear to be working as far as I can tell. But everything else is working just fine, I have been saving/loading and playing everything normally.
