Hey guys, what is your thoughts on the ThermalTake Volcano II? The shop here that sells them says they'll work on AMD chips up to 1.5ghz, but are these things junk? I'll be putting it on a 1.3ghz tbird and won't be overclocking. Will it be adequate?

I have a Volcano 2 on a 1Ghz Athlon and all I can tell you is that its _OK_. Its not spectacular. The stock fan just doesn't cut it. If you can get a 7K RPM fan on it, then it should perform better.

If you're not going to overclock, it should be ok.. be prepared for your temp range to go from mid 40s (celcius) to 50s.

Hope that helps

I did a review on it and posted it in this forum-it is an excellent choice. <A HREF="http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=631261#631261" target="_new"> Click Here for the VolcanoII Review </A>

I have one of it too, but didn't feel that it a good choice... For U$5 more, you can get a Global Win FOP32-1, which is a far better choice...
My temps with Volcano2 in a 750MHz (stock clock) is about 50 degrees C, not a good mark...

Asus A7V w/ AMD Athlon 750, this is my "Milene"! From Porto Alegre - RS.

I beg to differ but i had a FOP32-1 before i bought the VolcanoII and the V2 beats by a small margin the FOP32-1.

I have a TB-B 1.1Ghz @ 1333Mhz (10x133Mhz) and i get around 47ºC on FULL LOAD (and this is the absolute maximum value, it's more around 45ºC). With the FOP32-1 i used to have 49ºC (47ºC average). And the FOP32-1 is more noisy than the V2 and more expensive as well!
