Why lag in minecraft?

I have an HP dv6tqe laptop.
It has 2.2 ghz Intel core i7 quad core and 1GB Radeon HD 6490M with 8GB RAM.
Whenever I play Minecraft, it lags a lot even on lowest settings. I know my Graphics Card isn't the best, but I think my specs are above system requirements right?

Do u have java 64bit installed ?

Yes I have 64-bit installed but I'm not sure if Minecraft is running on 64 because when I set it to "Far", it says that 64-bit Java is recommended.

its using 32 bit java
i cannot remember how you set it to use 64 bit java...
try uninstalling 32 bit javas...
