Asynchronious Radeon speeds

I have a Radeon 32ddr and use Rain-on Tweaker 4.7 to overclock from the default 166mhz core and memory speeds. I have both the core and memory at 183mhz with memory latency at fast and memory timing at medium. Does anyone here have some experience with taking the memory speeds up higher than the core speeds? the program recommends keeping them synchronious but it seems that I would have faster results by bumping up the memory speeds higher and leaving the core stable at 183.

Even a broken watch is right twice a day...

I've never had any good success in tweaking the ram or the GPU faster then the other on my Radeon 64 while others reported they have.
