I know that Verizon will transfer a phone book/contacts to a new phone,
but I was told this weekend at one store they will not transfer/can not
transfer downloaded ringtones etc- anyone encounter this?

I already asked this question on this board recently and was told
ringtones/games stay on your own phone. Verizon will charge you $10 to move
contacts. I just did it myself as I didn't have that many. Only about 40
or so.

I had encountered a charge, but most folks I have met, told the rep
they were crazy, they were an existing customer etc and they just did
the transfer no charge- but seems to me another "gotcha" on the GET IT
NOW function that you cant move downloaded materials to another phone--
and while ring tones are not as important as contacts, it is something
we have paid for- and will loose on a new phone- guess they (verizon)
got us again.

I had to redownload previously-bought GetItNow apps to a phone and I called CS
and they credited me the purchase price on the second download. Don't know
whether this is official company policy or not, but it can't hurt to ask.

I thought in the past there was a way you could get some kind of credit for
the GIN stuff you had paid for when you got a new phone which would delete
it off your old phone and let you put it on your new phone.
Never did it myself - but I remember people talking about doing it. If you
paid for GIN stuff you should not be required to pay again just because you
change phones.
