software engineer needs help

i am not sure if this is the right place but hope you can help in a way or another.

my cousin who is in first class studying software engineering and needs some advises for what books/subjects would be helpful for her study in addition to her original subjects.

currently the subjects she is getting taught are (c++, logical gates, electronic ccts, electrical cct analysis and math). next year she will be teaching (assembly language, digital electronic). any other extra subjects would be helpful for her?

Oh yeah, an Algorithims class might be useful if your friend wants to get into the Systems Architect part of Software Engineering.
