Heatsink to AMD Virgin

Hello all... I am new at the game of Installing the Heatsink to a CPU. My interest is to Buy a MSI Master-S 6341 and Install a Noise Control Silverado or Taisol Cooler to an AMD 1333. No sites on Priceline.com offer this MB and CPU as a combo unit, so I may be stuck doing an install alone. I heard there are very real risks installing the heatsink (Cracking CPU, Too much Goop, Not enough Goop) Can anyone give re-assurance this is not rocket Science? Any comments are well recieved...Thanks :)

Well I was looking for a combo, but I couldn't afford it and afraid of Installing the mobo and CPU and HSF myself, but I had to. And I will say this, everything went fine, I got a thin layer of Thermal Compound, and the only problem I ran into was I had to flip the HSF because of some capasitor's that were in the way (My mobo isn't the K7 Master) but yeah it was really easy.

It is fairly easy to install a heatsink, for detailled instructions on the general procedure see this link
<A HREF="http://www.amd.com/products/cpg/athlon/pdf/23986.pdf" target="_new">http://www.amd.com/products/cpg/athlon/pdf/23986.pdf</A>

It is to an Adobe PDF file on AMD's web site that explains the procedure, with pictures of the right (and wrong) way of doing things

Hope this is some help to you

Thanks for the update on this. I think I will go ahead and check out that AMD site and do some reading.
