8 Gb of ram for WoW ?

Don't play it, don't know it's requirements
Got a kid telling me he's maxing out 4 Gb when playing and wants to upgrade to 8
He's got an E6400 at 3.0 and a GTX260
Is he crazy or does the game really need more ram ?

Unless there is a 64 bit version of the game I don't think that's possible. What he may be experiencing is not only the game, but other applications and the OS using up RAM while he plays the game.

By default a 32 bit application (even on a 64bit OS) can only use up to 2 GB of RAM. With the "large address" tweak he could have the application use up to 4GB tops. No more.

He's running the game and something called the Curse client
Read somewhere else that the overclocked E6400 could be the issue when doing " 25 man raids "
Any thoughts on that ?

That system is fine for WOW, it's just not made to have full 60 fps in every area. CPU RAM and video card are fine for WOW at just about any setting, including Ultra.
