mc462 -Its the fan stupid!

I used to get 39c with seti running on my 1.2 266 athlon with fop38 and delta 7000rpm 60mm 36cfm (hellishly noisy). I now get 45c with seti with sunon 5000rpm 80mm 43cfm (nice and quiet) and mc462. Both had artic silver paste. What am I doing wrong or is the whole heatsink thing really a FAN thing.

I think both are a factor, but the general rule of thumb is more CFM = cooler cpu. For a given HS this is usually true.

The 462 really shines out with the high CFM fans like the delta. Very noisy, but very cold. I get temps of around 40-41 degrees C (mobo at 26-27) for a 1.6Ghz 1.85V Athlon at load...
