This has come up before, but the LG6100 has GPS capability. Does anyone know
how to display the Longtitude Latitude position data?

I do not have a 6100, I have a VZ4400 and the following works on my phone.
It might be close enough for you to get it working on yours.

Make sure the phone is enabled to use the GPS function, not just the E911
function.
Go To Menu
Settings [8]
Change Location [8] to Location On
Press end to clear out back to the start screen

Go To Menu -> 0
Service Code -> 000000
Go To Field Tests [2]

Go To gpsOne [6]
Change gpsOne Test Screen [2] to on.
Change Test Num [4] to 922

Go To Setting [4]
Modify the settings by changing:
transport type [3] to DBM
lock status [4] to off
test mode [5] to off
sample count [6] to 1

Press end to clear out back to the start screen

Press 922 then SEND. Some gibberish will start coming out of the phone.
Stay on the line and the Longitude and Latitude coordinates will be
displayed on the screen.

Go to mapquest and enter your coordinates:

I did all that but ended up with the 911 operator after dialing 922.

What happened?

I tried to set up a freinds phone who had Alltel as a provider and the same
thing happened with their phone. I thought it was caused by Alltel - guess
it had more to do with the phone. Sorry it didn't work for you. Perhaps
someone with a 6100 can figure out how to get it to work.

Verizon does offer the GPS service, with "locator" turned on, but the GPS
service is not turned on in every market. Here in NYC the GPS service is
not working either as I am sure it is turned off in others also. It does
work where it is being allowed by VZW. Best is to call CS and just ask. If
it is turned off your phone settings are meaningless whether right or not.

This has nothing to do with E911.

I tried your suggestion today on a LG VX4400 and it works! My
location is Princeton NJ, so I guess they support GPS around here.

Powering off the phone negates all of the settings you mention, but I
leave my phone powered up 24/7 anyway.

BTW, pretty darned accurate. I plugged the LAT/LON numbers into
terraserver.microsoft.com and got an aerial view of my house.

Thanks for the info!
