There is no issue with making and receiving calls with the V710 and
bluetooth equipped cars. What users can't do with this crippled phone
is transfer the phonebook to the car.

If you want to do that, you need to use the bigger and better national
carrier (Cingular) who doesn't criple BT.

I have a Nokia 6310i on Cingular. Bluetooth of this phone works fine
with BMW's bluetooth, but there is no signal with Cingular where I
live, so it's a car-only phone. Bigger and better my a**.

Cingular may be better where you are but I can tell you that I
have cell phones from both Cingular (work) and Verizon (personal)
and I do a fair amount of traveling throughout the US. Without
question, the Verizon network provides better service in
virtually every location I've been with them both.

It all depends on where you are. Verizon Wireless is the worst carrier
here, and Cingular/T-Mobile are the best 2. Nextel, Sprint, and Alltel
is in between, but maybe Alltel is worse than VZW, not sure.
