I have an Asus A7M266 motherboard with iPanel and with my Tbird 700 @ 1.85 volts running with a 113 MHz Front side bus (790 MHz) the iPanel tells me I'm at 37 degrees celsius with a globalwin FOP38. I have one 80mm and one 92mm fan blowing air into the case and one 80mm fan blowing air out. mobo temp is 27 degrees celsius.
I guess what I'm trying to get to is, does the A7M266 temperature probe give an accurate reading? or is it off like the older Asus A7V motherboards.

The A7M266 doesn't seem to have the symptom that some A7V133 boards have namely different temperature readings from some programs (Asus Probe Vs Mother Board Monitor MBM).

However whilst I don't think the cpu temperature reading from the A7M266 socket mounted thermistor is any less accurate than any other socket A sensor there are several sites that suggest the readings are prone to some error due to the sensor being mounted inside the socket and hence in some cases not being in contact with the cpu.
These posts say that you should not compare a reading on one motherboard with one from another sample of the same model of motherboard.
I will post some links when I remember where I read this.

Personally I will be happier when I have a cpu with integral temperature probe as on the new Athlon 4 and all Intel Pentium processors.

With fsb at 113 your pciclock should be 37.7 (113/3). Isn´t that a lot? What pci card brands do you use. My ethernetcard won´t work over 35.

I later on overclocked that 700 to around 854 MHz with a 122 MHz Front side bus. I have a Netgear 10/100 card, a sblive value sound card, and a Pinnalce systems Studio DV firewire video capture card. Plus a geforce 3 in the AGP slot. Now I've switched out the tbird 700 with a Tbird 1333 and can't get the FSB over 140. I'm thinking I got jipped and don't really have an axia CPU even though thats what it says on the CPU itself.

Oh yea and when I had my Tbird at 122 MHz FSB my temps were still the same. When I had my Tbird 700 on my A7V motherboard overclocked to 800 through multipliers it always ran at 45 degrees celsius although it was a manual probe I taped under the heat sink fan.
