Hi... I want to upgrade my PC to be able to play Battlefield 3 and other games... I want to buy the "XFX Radeon HD 6850" I want to play Battlefield 3 on ultra settings with a high frame rate but I dont think that'll happen, I've looked up videos on youtube and it looks playable but I keep on reading all over the place that you need at least 60 FPS for competitive gameplay to be playable or something like that. I would like to know if anybody plays Battlefield 3 with this card and how well it performs on multiplayer and single player... How much FPS do you get. My second choice would be the "Sapphire Radeon HD 6950" which I cant afford right now, is it worth the extra 50$?

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

6850 will give you medium settings.45-85 fps.@1080p
6870 will give 45-85 high settings @1080p
i run a 5870 which is slightly better than both but i play at low settings with high textures with a rock solid 60fps. on all maps except gulf of oman where fps can drop on occasion down to the low teens... this is purely a memory limitation of the 1 gig cards. which can be limited if you have the correct drivers... currently the best for bf3 are the 12.3 1s.
200-250bux will get you high single player settings but if you play multi you will want to run at low to get the best feedback and packet data rates.

562.5 GFLOPs Double Precision compute power

88 Texture Units

6850:
775MHz Engine Clock
1GB GDDR5 Memory
1000MHz Memory Clock (GDDR5)
128 GB/s memory bandwidth (maximum)
1.5 TFLOPS compute power
