Want to purchase one of these CPU Coolers, but, the Company site will only take PAYPAL credit cards. Phooey!

Does anyone know of a US supplier for the "Noise Control Silverado" or for that matter, any Mastercard acceptance supplier?

Thanks for your replies.

Sorry I'm not exactly answering your question...but have you seen some of the posts in this section on people having major problems with the Silverado. I was thinking of getting one too but now am having second thoughts.

I haven't seen any other info on this hsf on these posts... what kind of problems are people having? I'm asking because I just got one (btw, you can order them from www.chillbast.com. It's a UK company that imports them from Germany... good service... but back to the Silverado) and it is not doing the job at all. I've got a T-bird 1.33/266; 256DDR; GB GA-7DX. My CPU was running 54 idle/ 59 full-load with the cheap hsf that came with it (I don't know the fan speed or cfm, but it was pretty loud...so i'm assuming it was fairly powerful) Also, I have one 80mm fan on the front sucking and two on the back blowing (not counting the PSU or chip/video card) I figured that temp was too hot, since I plan on OC'ing too. I bought the Silverado because I read good things about it--both as a good cooler and because it's so quiet. Well, one of those is true. It is very quiet. But, my temps are now c61/idle c67/full-load... worse than the $5 cheapo that came w/ my processor.

Anybody got any experience? Stories? about the Silverado? I'd hate to think I spent $100 on a new paperweight; only to order a new, also expensive and louder copper beast/delta screamer. But, unless I figure something else out, I'm gonna have to try to get those temps down that way.

Ideas?

Hi forgettythatty,

You are ahead of me with this building thing. I seem to get tangled up in my own feet so to say. But, really confused is more correct.

As to the SK6, at one time I was informed by a reseller that the SK6 was only so so with out that NOISY Delta fan :(
He also informed me that I did NOT require the Shim. Wonder if he knows what he is talking about?
The 7K fan on my existing HSF is a *whiner* and causes me to shut down when I leave the computer to do other things in the same room :(

Again your comments please. e-mail me at 1stbarron@home.com ok?

I just ordered the Round cables last monday so am waiting for them.

I found a ANTEC 830 case:
http://www.antec-inc.com/product/cases/wkstion.htm
that I felt was just right and expect to pick it up today.

Agree that most everyone sems to recommend the Artic Silver for the thermal paste.

Info on the Shim:
http://www.amdmb.com/article-display.php?ArticleID=76
It isn't required, I'd get it for the $8.

CPU Fan:
Thermaltake 60mm

$8.50
Comments: http://www.amdmb.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=50037
"how does 31cfm @ 28dba sound to ya? I've been posting about this fan for awhile now. I'm using one as a blower to add airflow around my cpu. Its much quieter than the 30cfm delta I replaced and really moves some air. You will not be dissapointed with this fan if you looking for the best noise/output fan"

Heatsink:
ThermalRight SK6 All Copper Heatsink - Fantastic! Includes Clip, fan mounts and thermal pad (fan not included)
http://www.kdcomputers.com/Cooling/Socket A.htm
$36

"Agree that most everyone sems to recommend the Artic Silver for the thermal paste." It is Artic Silver 2. Artic Silver is the older stuff.
