Hello

I have a Deskjet printer shared out from an NT machine,
and I'm trying to connect to it from two XP machines, but
I get an error message when I try to connect, something
along the lines of "The driver for this printer is
incorrect for this operating system. Please contact your
system administrator to install the correct driver." I've
tried everything I can think of to load the driver
manually, both locally (XP) and remotely (NT).

The other frustrating thing is that HP doesn't offer a
downloadable driver for the 895C for XP, saying I
shouldn't need to download one because it's already
included with XP.

Does anyone know if there's a way around this short of
pulling the printer off of the NT machine and hooking it
up to one of the XP boxes?

hi Linda
Its a Bug as far as i know. HP doesnt have 895c drivers for XP. HP only provide 895c drivers for ME and NT. I have some solution for this. First of all you clean the deivers from NT4 machine and Update your NT4 machine with all necessary updates and all. Then install the printer on NT4 machine and try remapping the printer on XP clients.

If it doesnt help you can also try installing the 895c printer drivers on XP clients itselves and try reconnecting the printer from NT machine. The 895cse and 895cxi drivers can also be used to workaround the problem ( Inbox in XP ).
let us know.

Thanks
